Food stamps are generally available to low income individuals through your local public aid office.  When applying bring: 1) I.D. with name and address, 2) proof of earnings or other income for each member of household, 3) proof of money spent on childcare (if applicable), 4) rent or mortgage receipt, 5) record of utility costs, and 6) medical bills for household members over 60 or those getting Social Security or SSI benefits.  Depending upon your situation, other documents may also be required.  For more info, call your local public aid office.

Provided by Suburban Area Agency on Aging, is a program in suburban Cook County which provides assistance to people on Medicare and their families.  Plans, coordinates, and funds services for adults over 60 .  Primarily a resource center.
